When To Start Planning Your Fall or Winter Wedding

Updated: Jan 23, 2020

Let’s talk about when to start planning your wedding!Cheers to your engagement!! Stay on that love high for as long as you can. Keep staring at that new and beautiful ring on your finger. Start dreaming of what's to come.

Fast forward a few weeks.

Now what?

In a recent post, I detailed the order in which to book your vendors. Today, I’ll share with you what's left to plan for 2020, when to start booking vendors for 2021, the differences in some of the services we offer, and some of our favorite venues!

What’s Left to Plan for 2020

2020 is just around the corner. You probably have the majority of your vendors  already booked, which is fantastic! At this time, you should at least have your caterer, photographer, and DJ/Band booked to ensure they are available. Transportation for your guests is the last service that needs to be booked. I’m all about making sure that your out of town guests have transportation and are taken care of from the moment they leave their chosen lodging to their safe return at the end of the night. You have many shuttle options to choose from, so it really comes down to budget. In my opinion, and from past experience, any guest will be grateful that they do not have to drive to the wedding and back. I would suggest a less expensive shuttle service like the yellow school bus for your guests. Another potentially cheaper alternative is a “party bus,” or even a trolley if you wanted to do something unique!

White Dahlia still has a few open weekends for 2020 for you to book “Day Of Coordination” for your wedding. Once signed, we will move forward with open communication, making sure that you are exactly where you need to be in the planning process. Soon after, we will help create your “Day Of Timeline.” We will also reach out to your chosen shuttle company to completely handle the shuttle day of scheduling so you don’t have to!!   Because our goal is for you to always feel supported, we are available for meetings and questions throughout the rest of your planning process. The last part of our Day Of Coordination package includes full vendor coordination. Of course, on the day of your wedding, we are the first to arrive and the last to leave, making sure every single detail is taken care of.

When to Begin Planning for 2021

Holla to my 2021s!!!   White Dahlia is excited to announce that we have officially begun booking 2021 clients, including both Day Of and Full-Service Planning & Design packages! For our Full-Service couples, we have already started the design process. As part of this service, my incredibly talented business partner, Kelsey Hahn, will design a full design board of your wedding--start to finish. This includes the table scapes, florals, rentals, ceremony space, reception space, and all the details in between. Once finished, I start the planning process, which always begins with me listening to your love story. After that, we will talk about your budget and then decide which vendor pairs perfectly with you. Step-by-step, I will be there to guide you through the entire process, making sure that your vision is fulfilled and your love story perfectly displayed on your special day.

If you are one of our 2021 Day Of Coordination couples, start looking at what vendors you are visually connecting with through social media and start following them. Your first booking should be your venue and most venues in our area are booking about a year to a year and a half out. Photographers, videographers, DJs, and bands will typically book a year and a half out as well. Start reaching out to those florists and caterers about a year before your wedding date and bakers (all the cake!) and shuttle companies approximately six months out. Oh! And it’s never too early to start looking for the perfect dress!!

For our Fall/Winter 2021 Couples; We’re so lucky to be in such a beautiful area that offers so many unique venues!!  A couple of our favorite fall/winter venues are Journeyman and 19North. Those venues are available for weddings year round, while the majority of our outdoor favorites, Blue Dress Barn, Tabor Hill, Hidden Vineyard, and Blissful Barn, are open through the month of October.

Listen. Planning is my jam and I get so excited when I think about all of our current and future couples we’ll be planning with in 2020 and 2021. Each of you are unique in my eyes, and I have such a desire to bring your love story to life. Thank you for allowing me to do what I love, and lucky enough to meet all of you along the way!

Happy Planning!

XO, Jess
