The Stigma that Wedding Planning is Glamorous or Easy

Meet Kelsey Hahn, Co-Owner + Lead Designer for White Dahlia! She's the creative mind behind all of our styled shoots and many of the gorgeous wedding days we are always posting on social!

What inspired you to enter the wedding industry?

I’ve always been creative and knew that my career path needed to be something that challenged me creatively.  I was introduced to the wedding industry in 2013 when I was hired as the venue manager for a local award winning wedding barn.  I was instantly hooked; the flowers, the dresses, the desserts!  I wanted to be a part of it all!

A piece of advice for someone wanting to start their own company?

Be ready to work harder than you’ve ever worked in your life. Having big dreams and ideas is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to owning a business, it takes SO much more hard work, dedication, sweat, tears, anxiety, late nights, and long hours than I would have ever expected.

What would you change about the wedding + event industry?

The stigma that wedding planning is “glamorous” or “easy” I would also change the amount of stress/pressure that couples put on their wedding to be perfect, when everything is said and done, your guests aren’t going to care about those tiny little things you might obsess about, they will just remember the good time they had.

List three things you would never show up without on wedding day:

  1. Water

  2. Planning Binder/Emergency Kit

  3.  Comfortable Shoes

What hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?

Netflix, coloring, Home Goods/Hobby Lobby, traveling, drinking coffee, Legos, eating out with friends, music, dancing

On my days off you’ll find me……

Playing Legos with my 4 year old son, avoiding household chores and cleaning :)

XO,

Kelsey
